Special Context Menu Items For Text Comparison Panes

  • Open
    Load a new file into the active pane. After you load a file, use the Re-Compare command to compare the newly opened file to the file in the opposite pane.

  • Save
    Save the file in the active pane.

  • Save As
    Save the file (or text fragment) in the active pane with a new name.

  • View/Edit
    Spawn an external program specified in the External editor field for file in the active pane.

  • Open Containing Folder
    Open the file's containing folder in Windows Explorer.

  • Copy Line(s) to Other File
    If no lines are selected in the active pane, this command will copy the line under the cursor to the opposite pane, replacing its matching line. Otherwise, the selected line(s) will be copied.

  • Reset Line Modification Marks
    Clear line modification marks in the active pane.

  • Replace Block in OTHER File
    Copy the current difference FROM the file in the active pane TO the file in the other pane, replacing the difference in the other file.

  • Replace Block in THIS File
    Copy the current difference TO the file in the active pane FROM the file in the other pane, replacing the difference in the active file.

  • Add Block to OTHER File
    Copy the current difference FROM the file in the active pane TO the file in the other pane, keeping the difference in the other file. This operation is only enabled if the status of the difference is CHANGED.

  • Add Block to THIS File
    Copy the current difference TO the file in the active pane FROM the file in the other pane, keeping the difference in the active file. This operation is only enabled if the status of the difference is CHANGED.

  • Apply Plug-in
    This sub-menu contains all plug-ins defined in Plug-in Options for the current session. When a plug-in is selected, it is applied to the contents of the active pane, thus modifying the file buffer. This modification is undoable.

  • Set Document Type
    This sub-menu contains all system types defined in Document Types Options for the current session. This allows you to override the file extension-driven type as well as let ExamDiff Pro automatically detect one. When a document type is selected, its syntax highlighting is applied to the contents of the active pane. If "Default/Plain Text" is selected as the document type, no syntax highlighting is used.
