Unicode Support

ExamDiff Pro provides extensive Unicode support for file and directory comparison. Text files encoded in ASCII (ANSI), UTF-8, and UTF-16 (both little and big endian) formats are automatically recognized and compared (UTF-16 files are detected by byte order marks -- 0xFFFE for little endian and 0xFEFF for big endian). Full Unicode editing of text files is also supported, given that the required international keyboard is installed in Windows.

ExamDiff Pro offers two options for recognizing Unicode files without byte order marks. First, the program automatically attempts to determine files' encoding by analyzing their contents. Secondly, to ensure that a Unicode file is compared properly, users can manually select the file's encoding while browsing for a file in the Compare dialog.

Directory comparison of files with names containing Unicode characters is fully supported.
